In this 6-week class you will explore more advanced techniques for wheel throwing, assembling and decorating ceramics. This class is intended for people who have some pottery experience and a great next step from the Introduction to Wheel Throwing class here at the studio. You’ll dive into greenware decoration and glazing, learn how to throw larger, more complicated forms, and create work both on and off the wheel over six weeks at Edgewater Pottery.

Week 1: Throwing Forms to Attach To

Week 2: How to Handle A Pot - Mugs, Pitchers, Vases

Week 3: Large Bowls and Platters

Week 4: Bring In A Shape - Make The Shape

Week 5: Extended Decorating Techniques: Greenware

Week 6: Glazing

This class’ sessions begin on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026 and runs for 6 consecutive weeks, with the final class on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026. Classes are from 7 pm to 9 pm with open studio hours on Sunday mornings from 9 am to 11 am beginning on May 10th, 2026. Open studio hours are great if you’ve missed or will be missing a class, want to work on class pieces or an independent project.

All clay, glazes, and tools used in the classes are provided by the studio. Throwing on the wheel can be a messy process and we recommend wearing clothes you don’t mind getting dirty!

If the class is sold out, please submit your email to the waitlist sign-up at the bottom of the page to make sure that you will be included in future updates for classes in 2026. We are excited to be expanding our offerings in 2026 which we can’t wait to share more about soon.
